Tomato mint chutney
Mint and tomato chutney
Ingredients
Mint - 1 cup fresh mint leaves
Tomatoes - 2
Red or green chillies - 2 or 3
Salt to taste
Asfoetida - a pinch
Water to grind the chutney.
Method
Heat oil in a pan. Roast urid dal and chillies. Add tomatoes and fry for a while till raw smell goes off. Add mint leaves. Stir well for a minute. After mixing well, switch off the gas. Coarse grind the mixture in blender to get both the colour in chutney. It gives rich look. Mint and pudina chutney ready to serve with idli, dosa and rice.
**Note: you can use tamarind instead of tomatoes. Tomatoes are healthier than tamarind. So i used tomatoes instead of tamarind and also to get this rich colour.
