Mini sambhar idlies/button sambhar idlies
Tamarind juice - 5 cups
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Sambar powder - 2 tablespoons
Salt - 3 tsp
A pinch of asfoetida
Curry leaves few
Radish - 1 chopped
Drumstick - 1 chopped
Carrot - 1 small chopped
Small onions - 5 to 6
Tomato - 1 chopped
Green chillies - 3 slit
Brinjal - 1 chopped
Idli batter - 2 cups
Extract 5 cups of tamarind juice from tamarind. Add sambar powder, salt, turmeric powder, asfoetida and mix well. Boil 2 cups of toor dal in a pressure cooker. Add cut veggies in the boiling tamarind water. Mix well. Once the veggies are cooked, add cooked toor dar and mix well. Let the sambhar boil for 10 more minutes. Switch off the stove. Temper with mustard seeds, methi seeds and asfoetida. Sambhar is ready. Steam mini idlis in mini idli plate. Switch off the stove once mini idlis are steamed. Pour the sambhar on mini idlis. Serve hot.
