Mango rasam

Small Lemon Size Tamarind 

  • 2 mangoes(riped) small - chopped into cubes

  • 1 tbsp rasam powder
  • a Pinch Asafoetida 
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 3 cups Water

    • 2 tsp Ghee 
    • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
    • 1 tsp  Cumin Seeds
    • Few Curry Leaves

    Soak tamarind in warm water and extract the juice. Take tamarind juice in a sauce pan. Add rasam powder, salt, hing, green chili, chopped mangoes  to the tamarind juice. 


  • Add water to adjust the consistency. Keep the rasam on the flame till a frothy layer forms on top of the rasam. Switch off the flame. Do not bring the rasam to boil. 

  • Heat ghee in a pan. Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Add cumin seeds and curry leaves and switch off the flame. Add this to the rasam. Hot mango rasam or soup is ready to serve.
