Brinjal Gothsu

Roast 4 to 5 medium sized brinjals directly on the stove flame for 10 minutes. When they are roasted, keep it aside to cool for a while. Peel off the skin from the brinjals. Soak lemon sized tamarind in hot water. Add the pulp to the 3 cups of  tamarind extract. Add a teaspoon salt, pinch of turmeric and a teaspoon of asafoetida to the tamarind extract. Crush the brinjals with hand into the tamarind extract water. Splutter mustard seeds and 4 to 5 dried chillies and add to the brinjal gothsu gravy. Brinjal gothsu is ready to serve with idlis, dosas, chapathis and rice...
